Simon & Schuster Inc. will now offer 5,000 more books for the Amazon Kindle wireless reader,whcih brings the total of available books available for download to 125,000.
Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Jeff Bezos was at the BookExpo America convention in Los Angeles and reviewed the benefits of the Kindle.
Amazon had temporarily sold out of hard copies of "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," the new tell-all book by former White House press secretary Scott McClellan. But, it could easily be downloaded to the Kindle.
"That's one of the great things about electronic books," he said. "They never go out of stock."
Sales of Kindle downloads are gradually increasing, now being 6% of total Amazon sales.
